COCONUT (Cocos nucifera)

The coconut is the fruit of the coconut palm, a large tree that can be up to 30 meters high, growing in a tropical climate and especially along the seashores. The coconut is not really a “nut” but a type of fruit known as a fibrous drupe. When the fruit still is green it is possible to drink its refreshing juice inside. When the fruit is ripe it eventually falls from the tree. The outer husk has then turned brown and inside is the white and fleshy meat, the edible part of the fruit.

Properties
From the white fleshy part of the fruit is made the coconut oil, which is used in skincare products. The oil contains saturated fat, unsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat, glycerine and vitamin E, which has a nourishing and a moisturizing effect on skin and hair.
